The winter sun spots most wanted by Britons have 30°C highs and 'nothing but sunny skies'

British holidaymakers can't wait to escape the cold this year. As temperatures drop and days grow shorter across the UK, people are planning their getaways to sunnier shores, and there are plenty of destinations worth visiting.

Searches for winter sun holidays have shot up by 367 per cent in just the past month, with Britons keen to swap grey skies for golden beaches.

Long-haul trips are particularly popular, with searches surging 148 per cent as travellers look further afield for guaranteed warmth. Britons are ready to travel the distance for proper sunshine this winter, and holiday provider Travel Republic shared where is best to go.

The Maldives has emerged as the absolute favourite for winter sun seekers. With gorgeous 30°C weather and postcard-perfect views, it's no wonder demand has exploded by 518 per cent in the past month alone.

TRAVEL INSPIRATION

On certain nights, the beaches actually glow thanks to bioluminescent plankton, creating an incredible starry effect right on the sand. By November, it's nothing but sunny skies ahead.

Further down the list, Abu Dhabi is stealing the spotlight from its flashier neighbour, Dubai, this year. Whilst Dubai still offers those iconic 32.5°C days and world-class beaches just seven hours away, Abu Dhabi's pulling in the crowds with 31°C weather and a brilliant mix of pristine beaches and cultural attractions.

The numbers tell the story - searches for Abu Dhabi have jumped 139 per cent compared to Dubai's modest six per cent increase.

From kayaking through the Mangrove National Park to relaxing on Saadiyat Island, there's loads to do.

Thailand's still riding high too, with The White Lotus effect keeping it firmly on everyone's wishlist. Demand's up 150 per cent this month.

More than a million UK travellers are expected to visit Thailand this year, with its 30°C temperatures and beautiful islands proving irresistible during our winter months.
