POLL OF THE DAY: Should all UK police forces stop investigations into non-crime hate incidents?

The Metropolitan Police has confirmed it will no longer investigate so-called "non-crime hate incidents".

Scotland Yard revealed on Monday that Father Ted creator Graham Linehan would face no further action for a series of gender-critical social media posts - the latest in a long line of controversial arrests by forces up and down the country.

In a lengthy statement, police said canning NCHIs would "provide clearer direction for officers, reduce ambiguity and enable them to focus on matters that meet the threshold for criminal investigations".

Over the last few years, various reports have exposed how Britons have been investigated for calling a barber "rough" or comparing a woman to a Rottweiler.

In Bedfordshire, for example, a man was investigated in 2021 for "racial hatred" after whistling the Bob the Builder theme song at another member of the public - which was then recorded as a NCHI.

Now, GB News is asking: Should all UK police forces stop investigations into non-crime hate incidents?
